Yesterday’s 1st Fox Fest Garden Party stormed it despite the weather with a strong turnout for some of York’s top notch bands The Mothers, People Saw Us, At Night, Ship of Fools, Little Kittens and Andrew Fawcett. Galtres Festival takes place August 24-26 August 2012 at Crayke, near Easingwold, York.
Friday night's line up for this year's Galtres Festival has just been announced, with the Buzzcocks headlining the Duke Stage, supported by Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene performing a special acoustic show.
Also playing Friday will be The Bluetones' frontman Mark Morriss, Chris Helme (ex The Seahorses) playing his new album The Rookery, and Heather Findlay (ex Mostly Autumn) with a set from her new band.

This is the second of three concerts in the York Classical Guitar Series. John Mackenzie was born in York in 1950, and took up the guitar in 1959. He qualified as a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a guitar performer, and as a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music as a guitar teacher. Applications for stage slots at Galtres 2012 are now open - for 7 days only.
They've identified their criteria for the type of bands and musicians they're looking for.
Most of the acts they book come from within Yorkshire and play original music, not covers, although they do make the odd exception for exceptional artistes. High quality is very important to Galtres - last year they received more than 1600 applications for 100 stage slots, so only the very best will make it.

Following a sold out headline gig to an ecstatic crowd at the Jazz Café as part of HMV Next Big Thing 2012, Jake Morley is set for a busy spring, with his debut album release and a 20 date headline UK tour in May.
His new single Sideline is released in May. In contrast to the upbeat previous single ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’, follow-up single ‘Sideline’ is an emotional ballad showcasing Jake’s passionate voice and ability to pull on the heartstrings.

This new event is sponsored by city centre retailer, HomeSense and will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June between 11am and 4pm at 12 different city centre locations, including outside quality homeware for less retailer, HomeSense, at Foss Islands Road.
